Union Minister Ramdas Athawale Launches Audio of ‘Cake Story’; Film to Hit Theatres on April 19

Kochi: The audio launch of the Malayalam film Cake Story, starring Dr. Rajeev Menon—National General Secretary of the Republican Party of India—was held in Kochi. Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale, officially launched the film’s audio at a grand event.

The movie is scheduled for release in theatres on April 19, just in time for the Easter weekend.

The event saw the presence of several celebrities from the Malayalam film industry, including Babu Antony, Johny Antony, Major Ravi, Neena Kurup, Sheelu Abraham, Arun Kumar, Ved Sunil, Adam Ayoob, Ansar Kalabhavan, Janani Satyajith, and Govind Narayan. Renowned directors Kannan Thamarakkulam and Sarjulan, music composers Jerry Amaldev and Ronnie Raphael, lyricist Santhosh Varma, and producer-distributor NM Badusha were also in attendance.

Produced under the banner of Chitraveda Reels and JKR Films by Bindu Sunil and Jayanthkumar Amritheshwari, Cake Story marks the return of director Sunil—known for films like Maanathe Kottaram, Alanchery Thambrakkal, Vrudhanmare Sookshikkuka, and Priyappetta Kukku. The film’s lead role is played by Ved Sunil, the director’s daughter, who has also written the script. Ved, who has previously worked as an assistant director and editor on several of her father’s films, makes her debut as a screenwriter with Cake Story. She is also the author of the book Panthrandu Maniyum Pathinettu Vayassum.

The film features a large ensemble cast including Ashokan, Kottayam Ramesh, Mallika Sukumaran, Saju Kodiyan, Dinesh Panicker, Dominic, TS Saji, Gokul, Jeethu, Sangeetha Kingsley, Janani Saji, Amritha Jayanth, Sindhu Jayanth, and Vidya Vishwanath. Adding an international flavor, five foreign actors from countries such as the USA, Serbia, California, and Moscow also play roles in the film.

A special highlight of the film is the Malayalam debut of Tamil actor Reddin Kingsley, who plays a full-length, pivotal role.

The film’s cinematography is handled by R.H. Ashok and Pradeep Nair, with music by Jerry Amaldev and SP Venkitesh, and editing by MS Ayyappan Nair. Other crew members include NM Badusha (Production Design), Jiby Maal (Chief Associate Director), Vinayak Sasikumar and Santhosh Varma (Lyrics), Sajeesh Thamarassery (Art Direction), Arun Manohar (Costume Design), Kalamandalam Vaishakh & Siju Krishna (Makeup), Nidheesh Iritty (Associate Director), Shalu Peyad (Stills), Aathira Diljith (PRO), and assistant directors Haris Hamsa, Praji Subrahmanian, and Rahul KM.

Cake Story is set to blend tradition, talent, and a touch of star power—both local and international—on the big screen this April.
