MALAPPURAM: A court has sentenced a man to a double life sentence and rigorous imprisonment of 38 years for sexually abusing his 14-year-old daughter. Judge S Sooraj of the Perinthalmanna Fast Track Special Court (1) pronounced the sentence after it was found that the 42-year-old man had subjected the child to sexual assault for the last three years.
He was sentenced to 38 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,75,000 in addition to double life imprisonment. If the fine is not paid, he will have to undergo an additional imprisonment of two years and nine months.Under the two POCSO sections, he faces double life imprisonment and two years rigorous imprisonment in default of payment of a fine of Rs 2 lakh. The other two face a jail term of 35 years and a fine of Rs 25,000 in the POCSO section, and nine months in jail in default of payment of the fine.
